Jangansa Temple, located at the base of Mt. Bulkwangsan in Janganeup, Gijang-gun, is surrounded by brooks meandering through a valley ina forest of luxuriant broadleaf woods.

The temple was built by Wonhyo Daesa, a Buddhist Master, in the thirteenth year of King Munmu’ reign during the Shilla Dynasty.

In the front of the grounds stands the Daewungjeon, or the main wing of the temple, which was designed by the City of Busan as Ancient Monument No. 37. Myeongbujeon stands on the right side and to its left, Wungjinjeon.
